There are hoodies, and then there are the ones you put on and immediately decide you're not taking off. The soft, oversized, cancel-my-plans kind.
We overthought the current crop and narrowed it down to three worth knowing about: one shaped, one oversized and one ridiculously cosy. Obviously.
The short answer
If you want shape, go TALA. If you want oversized fleece without spending a fortune, it's adidas. If your only requirement is *make me feel like I'm wearing a blanket*, we're going Blakely.
Three very different approaches to the humble hoodie. All extremely good arguments for not wearing a proper coat.
At a glance
TALA Cocoon Zip Through Hoodie · £59
The polished one. A full zip, cinched hem and enough shape to make leggings + hoodie feel like an actual outfit.
Reviews: 4.5/5 from 82 reviews on TALA's UK product page, checked 1 October 2026.
KIT NOTE: Best if you want cosy without disappearing completely inside your clothes. Taller? Check the sleeve-length comments before ordering.
adidas Essentials Oversized Fleece Hoodie · £35
Big, fleecy and £35. Sometimes we really don't need to overcomplicate things.
Our product record shows 4.7/5 from 703 reviews, although we couldn't independently recheck adidas's live UK review panel today.
KIT NOTE: The value pick. Particularly good if your hoodie requirements are simply *oversized, soft, immediately*.
Blakely Apex Lifestyle Oversized Hoodie · £59
Dark cherry. Properly oversized. The sort of hoodie you put on after the gym and are still wearing six hours later.
We couldn't verify enough reviews for this exact colour and style to give it a meaningful customer score, so this one's Kit's favourite.
KIT NOTE: Probably the closest thing on this list to an actual hug.

The full overthink
1. TALA Cocoon Zip Through ### The shaped one
£59 · Dark Olive · Full zip · Cinched hem
Not every cosy hoodie needs to be enormous.
The Cocoon is TALA's more considered take on the throw-on layer: mid-length, full zip and finished with a deep ribbed hem that pulls the silhouette in at the waist.
Translation: you get the comfort of a hoodie without completely losing the outfit underneath it.
It's made from 63% GOTS-certified organic cotton and 37% recycled polyester, and the zip makes it particularly useful for that awkward gym-to-coffee-to-real-life stretch of the day.
What are people saying?
TALA's UK product page was showing 4.5/5 from 82 customer reviews when we checked on 1 October.
Softness and shape get plenty of love. The only thing we'd watch is sleeve length: some taller reviewers found them a little short, while one reviewer found the fabric stiffer than expected.
THE K&G TAKE
The most *styled* hoodie of the three. Pick this if you like your layers cosy but still want some shape at the waist.

2. adidas Essentials Oversized Fleece ### The throw-it-on one
£35 · Brown · Oversized fleece
This is exactly what you want an oversized hoodie to be.
Roomy. Fleecy. Uncomplicated.
There's no clever waist shaping or unexpected fabrication here. It's simply a generously cut hoodie designed to be thrown over leggings, shorts, jeans or whatever else you happen to be wearing when the temperature drops.
And at £35, it's also comfortably the cheapest in our edit.
Also: £35. Very hard to argue with.

3. Blakely Apex Lifestyle Oversized ### The actual hug
£59 · Dark Cherry · Oversized fit
This is where we're abandoning any pretence that we're looking for tailoring.
We want cosy.
Blakely hoodies have long been a Kit favourite for pure cosiness, and the Apex Lifestyle Oversized goes all in: big proportions, plenty of room to disappear inside it and a Dark Cherry colour that makes the whole thing feel much more considered than your average post-gym hoodie.
There isn't enough verified customer feedback for this exact style for us to give you a meaningful star rating, so we're not going to invent one.
This one's here because sometimes personal experience wins.
THE K&G TAKE
If the brief is *I would quite like to wear a duvet but apparently that's socially unacceptable*, start here.
Dark Cherry doesn't hurt either.

So, which one?
Want shape? TALA.
Want oversized fleece for £35? adidas.
Want maximum hug? Blakely.
And yes, we looked at Oner Active Foundations Cosy, Adanola Varsity and Lounge Oversized too. They haven't made this edit because we couldn't find enough verified feedback for those exact styles to confidently put them above these three.
Because if we're going to overthink hoodies, we're going to do it properly.
One last thing
Reviews are useful, but hoodies are particularly personal. One person's *perfectly oversized* is another person's *why do I suddenly have no hands?*
Check the size guide, read the fit comments from people built vaguely like you, and then choose according to your preferred level of cocoon.
