Each year, places in the AJ Bell Great North Run are oversubscribed via the ballot held annually in January. We do however offer the opportunity to become a Great North Run member which entitles members to ‘skip the ballot’ and guarantee their place on the start line for 3 consecutive years (members need to complete their registration and pay the entry fee each year).

Staged since 1981 and truly part of the fabric of the North East, 60,000 determined and dedicated runners make the Great North Run the World’s biggest half marathon. Famous for its warm local support, unbeatable atmosphere and the millions raised for good causes, the experience is second to none. Running from city to sea, the route takes runners on a memorable 13.1 mile journey, starting in Newcastle City Centre before a grandstand finish at the stunning South Shields coast.
