5 Pairs of Women’s Amazon Running Shorts, Tried and Tested

By August 18, 2025No Comments

Finding the right pair of running shorts isn’t always as easy as clicking “add to basket.”

Waistbands, pockets, lining — all the small details can make or break how comfortable you feel once you’re actually running.

So I ordered 5 pairs of Amazon running shorts (prices ranging from £12.99 to £31) and put them through their paces. Watch the reel on instagram to see them in action.

First things first: they’re all good shorts. If you’re a casual jogger, you could throw on any of these and have a great run. But when you look closer at pockets and waistband comfort, some pairs stand out more than others.

Why Pockets Matter

Even on a short run, the minimum you want to carry is your phone + AirPods. If you’re heading out for a longer distance with gels and drinks, you’ll be wearing a running vest anyway. But for short jogs, pockets are everything.

And trust me, I’ve done my fair share of retracing my steps after dropping a key 🤪🔑

Why Waistbands Matter

Comfort is non-negotiable. A waistband that’s too tight can cause overhang and make you feel self-conscious. On the flip side, a supportive waistband can actually make you feel more secure and contained — without being restrictive.

The Standout: Navy Shorts 💙

⭐ Rated 4/5

These were hands-down the best of the bunch for me:

  • Supportive high waistband — perfect if you like a bit of tummy control. I didn’t realise how much I’d appreciate this until I tried them, but I felt properly held in without restriction.
  • Lightweight + breathable fabric — ideal for summer runs.
  • Side pocket for your phone — deep enough to keep a key secure too. No zip, which is why they’re not a 5/5, but still practical.
  • Price: £31 — the most expensive pair I tested, but honestly the best value for money. I’ll be keeping these 🙌

They also come in loads of colours 🎨

The Rest

Khaki Green ✅

  • Snug fit (I’d size up next time).
  • Nice waistband, built-in brief.
  • Pocket only fits keys + AirPods, not a phone.

Sky Blue ❌

White ❌

  • Nice big zip pocket… but the ruched waistband was too restrictive.
  • Created overhang and just didn’t feel flattering.

Icy Blue 🤍

  • Bargain at £12.99.
  • Lightweight with built-in shorts.
  • Zero tummy support though — great if you’ve got abs, less great if you don’t.

Sizing Reference

I wore a UK8/Small in all pairs. For reference, I’m also a Small in H&M and most high street shops.

Final Verdict

All 5 pairs are decent options depending on what you’re looking for, but if you want a flattering, supportive waistband and a pocket that actually fits your phone, the Navy pair is the clear winner 🏅
