Off-Duty Scandi in Monochrome

Some things are worth splurging on. Others make you pause mid–weekly shop, throw them in the trolley, and silently congratulate yourself all the way to the checkout. This black funnel-neck sweatshirt is very much the latter.

I spotted it in Tesco, but if you told me it came from COS, I wouldn’t argue. The cut is clean. The neckline has that soft, sculptural rise that feels cosy but not bulky. The ribbed cuffs and hem give it shape so you can throw it on and instantly look like you tried — even if you didn’t.

I styled mine in what I’m calling Off-Duty Scandi: a sharp monochrome pairing with white high-waisted shorts. And these shorts? They’re a find in their own right. The material is soft with a slight drape, so they hang beautifully. They look smart but feel casual, with a flattering high waist that works with everything from cropped knits to slouchy sweats. Add the front pleats and discreet side-zip pockets, and they’re giving “effortless European summer” energy without trying too hard.

Together, the pieces strike that sweet spot between relaxed and refined. The sweatshirt keeps you cosy; the shorts keep it fresh. The whole look works for coffee runs, weekend city strolls, or pretending you’re in Copenhagen while you’re actually in Tesco again (circle of life).

Bottom line: high street price, designer energy. No one will know it’s Tesco unless you tell them.
